Ok, but tell me, if a person buys an iPhone or a Samsung device in India and travels to country where 5G is available, would he be able to use 5G.?

Edit: aren’t 5G bands standardised? And devices are made with the capability to support most common or most of the bands.

It sounds really weird that Indian iPhones need a special update to work with Indian 5G networks.

I recently travelled to south east Asia and used 5G on Samsung and apple devices, with their local sim. However here in India it’s like waiting for an update from either the carrier or the oem.

Guys who are using 5G in their countries, I have a few questions

  1. Why do OEMs like Apple, Samsung and others need to send an update for 5G to work, the carrier who is testing 5G should ideally be sending a carrier update

  2. iPhone 14 bought in India, will it work in 5G cities abroad.

  3. I have an 14 Pro India variant, it does not show 5G in settings, my friend brought a US iPhone 14 Pro in India and it’s also not showing 5G selection in settings

Is apple going to send an iOS 16.1.01 update for Indian phones. How was it for you guys when your country shifted to 5G
