Franklin's in Hyattsville, MD is a unique establishment. It's part brewery restaurant and part general store. In the general store they have everything from cold beer to kitchen gadgets, gifts, Lego kits, board games, etc. I live nearby and it's always fun to wander in there if I am looking for a gift for someone that's hard to shop for. You can get there easily from DC on public transit, also.

Any reason why you don't want to pit a threshold there? That's kinda what they are for.

Yes, I understand that. The average speed is what matters for me personally when I want to travel from one of the line to the other.

I am super excited for the Purple Line and I was very bummed when I learned the average speed is so slow. Even with the worst beltway traffic it will almost always be faster to drive. :/

Interesting idea. I wonder how they're going to deal with outgassing from the extrusion process.

Reply to The Metro is the reason my car stays in the garage for weeks at a time. Without it, I would be driving 3-4 days a week. How much more frequently would you be driving if it weren’t for the Metro? by SuperBethesda
I would love to get to the point where I don't use my car for days at a time. I am in the PG suburbs. So, there is enough density to bike places, but the bike infrastructure is just not there for a lot of trips. Most of the roads along the Route 1 Corridor are more like freeways, and a lot of people do try to bike/walk but I'm not that brave.
