Reply to Would you live in a "Floating City"? by jfd0037
First? There's some people floating in Lake Titicaca that would beg to differ.
And no, I probably wouldn't, but I might visit. Island costs are always so high and I imagine I'd get bored constrained to a small area like that. Also, potential for sea sickness in my home if a storm rolls in? Seems like a solution for overcrowded areas or overcrowded wallets, neither of which are problems I have 😆

Humans, unable to pinpoint where their own consciousness stems from, debating whether AI could have consciousness is funny.
A fun trip down whether AI could be conscious is this discussion between Duncan Trussel and Blake Lemoine (the Google engineer that stated LAMDA was conscious). Duncan is mostly a Buddhist with lots of eastern religious tendencies and has consumed a catalog of psychadelics to shape his spiritual world view and I can't remember what Blake describes himself as, but neither are from a strict dogmatic Christian/human centric view of the universe and their conversation is colored that way. This might turn off people of certain mindsets but for the Alan watts and Terrance McKenna fans out there, it'll be right up your alley. https://open.spotify.com/episode/0NXNvJtRQSuWl4HM1MvhD0

Reply to How realistic is “The future of” on Netflix? by alakeya
I've seen the show, and I think those concepts are novel and far fetched. The closer and better reality is looking at how humans can get back to nature more and use nature in a more symbiotic way. Things like algae power generation, mushrooms for breaking down oil spills and plastic, more trees in urban corridors to bring down heat islands. Humans are out of balance with nature but it has so many problems solved if we just bring more of it into our lives. We don't need them to glow, we just need to recognize the strengths they already bring.

Reply to Eggs are liquid meat by ZachTheCommie
It's not meat, but what's crazy is that a collection of cells that aren't meat can become meat. Kind of like how it's crazy that a cells incapable of respiration individually, when combined, can form the lungs, which do respirate.
