During the earthquake in DC in 2011, we walked out of our office building to the opposite sidewalk—as the workers from the building across the street passed us heading to the sidewalk on our side. We all just looked at each other like Oh… There is no place to go. And that was nothing compared to this quake and its aftershocks.

You think that’s bad. You should see the stuff I do when I’m only thinking of myself…

I’m not sure why he doesn’t just say, everyone being selfish/greedy (highly prioritizing personal happiness over happiness of the community) is a problem. He does criticize narcissism, but I’m not sure why he’s couching any of this in terms of happiness in the first place.
