Even on professional microphones your recorded voice can seem different to your preconceived notion of what your own voice sounds like- it's because when you speak you hear yourself not only through your ears but also through bone conduction in your skull and jaw. People who spend lots of time around microphones (recording artists, radio and TV) are able to ignore this but many people find it uncomfortable.
