Keke Palmer’s character was one of the most delightful performances I saw in a movie last year. And part of the story is her growing as a character (Daniel Kaluuya’s character does the same, as both represent one-half of their esteemed father and need to grow into their own person over the course of the film) so I cannot sympathize with disliking her.

They have the attitude because they’re allowed to. If other customer service employees were allowed to treat people the way they wanted to, trust me: they would.

Post office and MVC workers are the only people working in customer service who are allowed to treat you the way everyone else in customer service wants to. Every other retail and food service employee is forced to kiss the customer’s ass. While I don’t like being pushed around, I respect them for being honest.

I don’t think the 50’s were some prelapsarian time period or anything but Americans are probably more atomized and isolated than ever before
