Haha we have a high-iron well too. My parents, who both have short hair, didn’t believe me when I told them the water was fucking up my hair texture. Then I pointed out an orange stalagtite forming on the underside of the bath faucet. They broke down and got a water softener.

Reply to First year in VT, where’s the snow? by magic_spaghetti
Climate change. I grew up here and the last several winters have been very different from the winters of my upbringing. Even when we do get snow, it hasn’t been staying, it warms up and gets rained out. Gross.

I don’t know why you got downvoted, you’re right. I’ve lived here all my life and I still lock up my shit. It does not justify thieving at all, I’ve had my shit stolen by roommates letting untrustworthy friends of theirs hang out at my apartment before and no matter the circumstances, it’s never okay. But…yeah, I’m still gonna be on the cautious side and always lock up.

Same. For most of my life I’ve lived in a particularly rural part of VT, where we aren’t a high priority for power line repairs. Having power out for a few days was definitely normal to me growing up, especially during the snowy season.
