I agree, and I think it's their right to do whatever they want with their business. It's just soooooo super shitty to pull the "nobody wants to work" nonsense when what they actually have is a failure to adapt. And a known reputation of treating employees poorly. If they would have said they were closing because of rising costs, lowered revenue, and the changing business environment in Oakland- and actually communicated with their employees- there wouldn't be an issue.

You need to apply that logic to the greeter. Not everyone is going to want to engage with him, and he should accept that rather than harangue people. He's the one who took it personally. OP was just minding her business. Men like that think that women owe it to them to be a certain way in public and it's an attempt to assert their dominance in a public space. It's gross, and so is defending it. And btw, I'd bet money that I'm older than you.

Totally agree! Also, it's unfair that the people who are able to take advantage of the higher wages being a traveling nurse are more likely to be younger people without kids- NOT that I blame anyone for getting the best deal for themselves! But a lot of people who would love to command a higher rate can't do it because they have responsibilities at home.
