Yea Koss knew PortaPros like to pull people’s hair out and break pretty easily 40 years ago. They have a warranty but it costs money to ship them back, so people just buy a new set instead. I don’t know if it’s more profitable this way. But the fact that they still don’t have removable cables shows they don’t give a shit.

Once you get that, you’ll have spent $100 on 3 different pairs that are not drastically different from each other in performance but tuned slightly differently. You may be better off saving for something higher end once you’ve spent some time with the CRN and Salnotes Zero to learn what you like.

There are a lot of eartip options so you may find you like a specific type of foam or silicone, like Etymotics. Otherwise, CIEMs are an option and they are worn without tips at all.

Well in your case, you have Variations, Elex, HD600 and probably have had others that are well regarded. Without further context, I’m assuming OP hasn’t explored higher end options and simply is content with what they have…for now!

All these “budget endgame” posts include a line like this and it’s never true. I would be shocked if you browsed this sub or other headphone forums and didn’t pick up IEMs in the next 6 months.
