Just use internet "street" smarts to weed out the scams. Don't give anyone money or personal info up front for anything and you should be good. If anyone asks for money or personal info before you tour the apartment, don't trust em (not sure your experience on this so just stating it just in case)

Adding lots of separated lanes but only a few protected or grade separated lanes (i don't count plastic bollards as protected), but the city is drastically improving it's infrastructure pretty rapidly. But there's lots of streets still without anything

Honestly super disappointed we didn't get a new bike lane on De Grasso when they took away that car lane for portions of it, so easy to just stripe it for bike cuz they already repainted and installed the plastic bollards, nice wide berth from the cars too

Wooster to YNHH is not bad at all on a bike if you take the right streets. You can stay on grade separated bike lanes almost the entire route, but the bits that aren't separated, definitely be careful as others have said

New haven is putting a lot of work in becoming a very bike friendly city with lots of grade separated or protected bike lanes but we're not there yet, but the city adds several miles every year to the separated/protected infrastructure. Last year I think they added nearly 20 miles of new lanes along a few key routes, many more in the works/planning stages

As others said, Willoughbys is my fave, classic 3rd wave coffee shop. Common Grounds is also pretty good and my #2 favorite, kinda between 3rd & 4th wave coffees as a vibe (if that distinction matters at all to you).

Willoughbys has 2 cafes in Downtown New Haven, but a couple other spots too. You can buy their beans at any cafe (they roast at their home in Branford).

Common Grounds is opening soon on York St in NH, but has cafes in Hamden, Shelton, or Branford. They have roasters in every cafe, the owner makes rounds to do batches in each location

If you like to taste interesting and new beans based on their natural characteristics from where they're grown, how it's roasted, Willoughbys is your go-to.

If you wanted quality coffee but also the option of flavored coffees (even in whole bean), Common Grounds is great, but they still have quality unfavored traditional blends too that are delicious. I personally prefer their house blend to Willoughbys, but prefer Willoughbys espresso and single origin coffees over Common Grounds.

Welcome to Connecticut!
