Every year for decades now, Hamden High School has had an adult-ed photography class where you learn to develop your own film using their darkroom. It's possible New Haven does something similar, or you could join Hamden's as a non-resident.

If you start work at 8am, I91/ I95 shouldn't be a problem. I commuted from Hamden out that way for 7 years and it was very smooth. I would get to the interchange around 7:45. You could also take route 15, get off exit 59, and have a pretty straight shot to the VA through town. 25 minutes tops. Best bet is to use an app like Waze, it'll give you the quickest route each day.

TBH there’s not too much to do on a Friday night that isn’t a club. Your best bet is probably a place called BAR on Crown St. They’ve got amazing pizza and they operate as a bar/ restaurant until about 10pm, where they open the back room into a nightclub. You can still order pizza by the slice after 10pm too.

There’s also Barcade on Orange St, which is exactly what it sounds like: a bar and a classic 80’s and 90’s arcade. They’ve got great pub food, burgers etc and the atmosphere is chill because it’s primarily old school gamers that are more on the quiet side.
