Clean the blades regularly and keep them raised during ice storms. You should start getting 2-3 years out of the cheap ones at that point.

Mostly just putting this for anyone who can't afford better.

I don't know if there's a specific BIL answer for this one...

I like my vintage cotton table cloths, so I made a specific effort to learn how to successfully remove various stains. So that's an option. Rug cleaner gets wine stains out, among other things, and pet stain remover (enzyme cleaner) gets everything else out. There's a number of olde timey options too, but I'm lazy.

Restaurants use polyester table cloths, and it's pretty easy to wash stains out of those. They buy them in bulk and bleach the crap out of them too.

I also can't help myself on the plastic table cloth issue - there is a high end category that isn't the worst ever. I remember growing up, my mom splurged on some fancy lacy thing that was totally plastic, and I swear to god it look decent (and lace was in at the time).

That was a proof of concept plant. They have better funding now and the next plant will do about 35k tonnes per year.

West coast of north america has a lot of suitable sites.

This idea isn't close to being toast. Not yet anyway.
