The death penalty doesn’t deter crime and does cost more than simply keeping someone in prison for life. What purpose does it serve?

I believe I read somewhere (could be apocryphal, though) that Bushwhacked was originally even going to be a Home Alone spinoff with Marv, but they decided to make it its own separate movie.
