Honestly, I loved all three, and I enjoyed exploring Area X and it's history from different characters' perspective. I know a lot of people felt that the quality dropped off between the first and second book. I didn't necessarily feel that way, but I can understand it.

I look up other books by them but usually nothing about them personally. It honestly doesn't matter to me or add anything to my enjoyment of their work. If the writing is good, I don't need to spoil it by finding out shitty things about the writer. If the writing sucks, I don't really care what a nice person the author is.

Ooh good one. I remember that episode

I've tried to get through the book multiple times, and I just can't do it. I know it's a beloved novel, so I'm sure I'm just missing something, but the characters and writing style are just so annoying to me.

I was divided on Song of Achilles. I liked some aspects of it but not others. I absolutely hated Circe though. Miller's sappy, overly emotional writing style made it impossible to get into the story.

That's insane. At some point, a rabid dog just can't be rehabilitated. This guy will get out and will keep doing things like this until he actually kills someone. The system isn't failing the throat slasher, it's failing all of his past and future victims.

Same. With paperbacks, I'm also less concerned if they get a little dirty or beat up, so I don't mind lending them or taking them places.

I mean, what do you want? Those books were written in a world that doesn't exist anymore. If you can't bear to read anything that doesn't fit with 21st century cultural standards, don't read old books.
