I have two WWII army surplus wool blankets. A lightweight one from the Army, and a heavier one from the Navy.
Cheap, mil-spec quality, and warm. Not fashionable showpieces though.

If the plastic latch breaks you're screwed though. I've thought of 3d printing a guard ring to make sure that the lock section can't hit the ground when dropped.

mine was my Aunt's purchased in the late 50s. Have every accessory. Replaced the bag, one wheel, and the belt. I used it to clean te shop, it even picks up nails.
Mine did eventually fry a motor winding, and I need to find a new one. I damaged the rotor when I took it apart, otherwise i'd have it re-wound and back together.

Inherited a set from my mom. Hers were probably from the early 50s. They are used in my garage - bolt sorters, parts washers, etc, etc. Far more abusive than anything she could throw at them and hey keep on going.

If the latch breaks you could also just put a pip pin in the hole, just complicates handling a tad.
