It's not shitting on a language, it's creating a way for our trans and non-binary friends have a way to express themselves.

We have plenty of staff here who go by Latinx and plenty who stick with Latina and Latino. I refer to them by their preferred descriptor same as I do their preferred pronouns.

The push for us to adopt Latinx came from that community, not us white teachers.

Oh yeah, nothing you can do about that.

We used to take our students to the UN, round trip to New York and back in one day on a bus. Drop kids off in Chelsea around 10:30, heading back to East Boston to my campus and the effing bridge went up.

Closest I've ever come to losing my mind and swearing in front of students

Arrival and Dismissal at Mystic Valley Charter. On top of being a garbage organization they do a terrible job of managing parent traffic and employ some of the most aggressive crossing guards I've ever seen. Of course happens just offset enough from my school schedule to fuck it up M-Th

Cape Cod homes are just so easy and cheap, gonna age terribly. Just part of the race to the bottom... (Reddit: Circa 1800~)

The colonial model is so easy, cheap and gonna age terribly. Just part of the race to the bottom for developers (Reddit: circa 1850~)

The triple decker model is so easy, cheap and is gonna age terribly. Just a part of a race to the bottom (Reddit: Circa 1870~)

Reddit circa 2020~: Ugh we keep tearing down these beautiful historic buildings and homes for these soul-less, bland modern condo and apartment buildings! Where has all the character gone!

Should I keep going?

/r/Boston - BUILD MORE DENSE HOUSING.

Developers build 5:1 buildings far more dense than stand alone buildings

/r/boston NO NOT LIKE THAT MAKE IT COOL LOOKING OR SOMETHING, RENOVATE HISTORIC BUILDINGS!

Developers: OK, but it's going to be expensive....

/r/boston NO. ALSO IT MUST BE AFFORABLE HOUSING

JFC what do you people want?

We can get housing "good" in terms of aesthetics and art, "fast" in that we all seem to agree we're in a housing crisis or "cheap" in that the developer can build it and rent units out at a reasonable cost.

Choose two. We can't have all three without massive government subsidies and as much as I'm in favor of that, and policies like UBI, it's really unlikely to happen even in the deep blue sea of MA. Can we just take what we can get instead of whining about generic 5:1 construction (which to draw attention to my original point is how construction has always worked and why you drive through neighborhoods where all the houses more or less look the same?)

I'd hope you have the same, or more, energy to come for the state lottery.

Sports betting has several barriers to entry for your average person and the odds are transparent.

Walking into your local convenience store and dropping $100 a week on scratchers where you have no clue what your odds or potential winnings are is far more predatory and exploitive.

You've been able to access the app forever, you just can't place a bet. Even more annoyingly you can't sell or close a ticket when it's in the money. Many times I would have love to cash out and take my win in the 3rd quarter of a game only to watch my bet blow up by the end of the game.

Edit: To be clear I'd place bets while up in NH visiting family but couldn't close them out once back in MA. Just had to let them ride.

Watching these things navigate into and out of the port from Admiral Hill in Chelsea is a sight to behold. The size of scope of the car carriers makers me so uncomfortable but I also can't look away.

One time I was eating lunch over near Piers Park and one of these was leaving port and blasted it's horn (I think the layman's explanation is it's a "hey I'm coming around a blind corner and by the time you see me it's too late for me to stop to gtfo of my way"

I felt it my fucking soul. Talk about brown sound.

Probably not, but it'd be nice to have for weekends and leisure time. Maybe someday.

I commuted from Hudson to Burlington and back for about 3 months when I had to move back to my parents a little bit and it was hell on Earth.

I was talking to a guy recently who is in IBEW and is contracted out to MIT who lives in the same area. He leaves home at about 3:30 in the morning, gets to Cambridge and gets a prime parking spot and then has a little setup where he goes back to sleep for an hour or so in his car truck. Then he works 6:30-2:30 and scoots out just before northbound commuting traffic.

You will get a Richdale's taking over for a 7-Eleven location, keeping all of their equipment in the store but never actually using them or offering those items for sale.

Slushy? Out of order. Fountain sodas? Out of order. Hot station? Maybe out of order, maybe not. There's no sign but it's completely empty. Coffee? Fuck you, get a cold brew Starbucks from the cooler.

You could be upset about how that's a bad deal for taxpayers, or instead you could be upset why this isn't the standard for private companies and we all don't get to retire at a reasonable age with a pension and get to enjoy our time instead of working until we physically can't do it anymore.

You could also just go to work for the MBTA for yourself right? Then you'll get your vested pension you've earned after 25 years of public service. Also how many people do you know stay with one organization for 25 years?
