Ok, tangental, but related question. The city replaced the street lights out in front of my place with these superbright LED lights and they are crazy bright. Like I don't need to turn on lights in my house anymore bright. Does anyone know who to reach out to to change the street light to a bulb with less lumens than the sun? Has anyone else experienced this? It's like being in front of someone with those insane blue headlights but... on my couch or making dinner or trying to sleep.

I really enjoyed the blue ant series, and it's funny seeing things like "Incredibly ugly sweater defeats AI surveillance camera" on news sites today, but even those had some pacing issues. The Peripheral had some interesting ideas, especially "the Klept" and ideas around who would be best suited to ride out a power vacuum but again.. pacing. Agency felt jarringly fractured at times, and I get that the main character is supposed to be the stand in for the audience but you are right that she is just along for the ride. The AI had more agency than the woman who basically gets kidnapped and told what to do by every other character including the AI.

That moment when you look at the sign and it says "next orange line 20+ minutes" which means it is going to be a sardine can when it does arrive and the one following will be another 20 minutes after that one.
