The problem is these types of watermarks where the model layers are tweaked with a key to bend the output are easily obliterated by double dipping -- Chatgpt to generate then another paraphrase llm to rewrite. text canaries are brittle af.

ahh thats not really single payer thats state funded Medicare/Medicaid plans -- similar in concept but not in scope or savings (where single payer fully locks out players and forces them to negotiate costs or lose the market access).

What state is this -- there is not an active single payer Healthcare sate in the USA as far as I know. Vermont passed a very neutered version of one in 2011 but it was disabled in 2014 because there was not enough power at the state level to force the cost savings and the cost became untenable.

IMHO, if they destroy 230 it should be applied well outside of internet context too -- hold owners responsible for people saying and discussing things on their property in general. To me it is equivalent to Walgreens being asked to be held liable for two jihadists walking in their parking lot while plotting or shouting about their POV from their grass.
It should clearly be OK for them to remove or kick them off their property should they choose but they should not be held liable (or expected to police) for the speech of another or not taking the action to trespass. 230 just reaffirms the normal and usual case of exemption that is enjoyed in the physical world on internet platforms.

that only flies on topics that have not been upheld a dozen times over 50 years before this seated court. When they revisit extremely well established and reaffirmed law and conflict clear stare decisis it is something totally different.

Reply to comment by IsardIceheart in Eli5 How exactly does Noise cancellation work? That too in such small airbuds by Professional-Ad3441
This is kind of true and kind of false, Software speed is limited by the hardware it runs on — there is certainly software that is fast enough to do this work very well (given the right hardware to run on), however, given the constraints of many noise canceling headphones it is currently much more cost effective to bake that logic into chips especially designed for this work vs using a much more expensive general purpose cpu etc.

My advice is get a plumber out there and have them replace every one of those in the house. Those things fail over time and you don’t want to be in a position where you don’t have working ones when you need them. You could save money and do it yourself if you know what you are doing.

I mean it is estimated that there is roughly 10^57 atoms in our solar system bodies not including the sun. Thats all types of atoms (including argon, helium etc) -- but lets assume they are all of the most optimal material to make a 1 atom thick sphere at a distance from the sun that would not collapse or blow apart from gravitational forces or solar winds. You would run out of atoms before completing half of such a sphere. And to what end? The sphere would not do anything nor would you have a planet to power as you just used all of the available atoms to construct your partial sphere..

Given the rate of genetic mutations even if there was not many many extinction events in that time there would be nothing living that resembles a human.

I think you are greatly missed under estimating the amount of ‘material’ that would be needed. At a distance that could be made even theoretically stable against the gravity of the sun you would need to harvest solar systems of ‘material’. Never mind you would need specific types of material not just any atoms — assuming you are spending 1000s of generations of effort (if not more) for something more worthwhile than a simple passive enclosure.

I sure hope none of their targets are my doppelgänger — ffs. Also reminds me of the facial recognition service a few years ago that would match like 1/4 black men to Michael Jordan.
