I don't get how people think a superintelligence wouldn't be capable of designing and building machines dynamic and intelligent enough to perform maintenance work.

I can't imagine what human jobs would still exist if machines have fully figured out complete natural language translation and software development. That would almost certainly be an AGI doing that.

This sort of gets into weird territory. If you discovered that every night when you are deep asleep in a split second your entire body is vaporized and then an exact copy was rebuilt into the same state that it was before, would you consider the person who wakes up to be you?
