As I recall, from like way too long ago, Smyth carries pre-owned vintage jewelry, including engagement rings, and I think Nusinov does as well? The advantage being that you could get a vintage setting with a new stone, if you’re having trouble finding a combination you like.

I’m going to guess FBI. They would have the matching cars, their office is in the general direction you saw them coming from, and if, for example, there were a possible threat at the Federal Courthouse downtown they would respond like that. They also don’t like telling people when they’ve done something, which is why whether it was a police action or false alarm, it would be unlikely to make the news.

And my question is…have the ravens done that? There’s a ravens electrical, bad birds everything, half the businesses use ravens colors as part of their trade dress…but I haven’t heard of the Ravens sending out cease and desist letters. Has anyone been stopped by the team for infringement? Everyone is bringing up the ‘Hon’ thing, but my recollection was that that business had been involved in multiple litigations before that application.

Also, the application seems pretty explicitly focused on football-oriented gear. Even if the items themselves are not football in nature, the application only applies to items used to promote a football team. So is there a Charm City semi-pro team that would be put out by this, or a business putting out faux Ravens gear using Charm City that they are targeting? I just don’t see this as a broad attack on the city’s identity.

Genuine Question - do the Ravens have a history of enforcing their trademarks locally? Because I feel like I’ve seen more than a few businesses with infringing names and trade dress, and I’ve never heard of any sort of takedown action by the team.

On the other hand, if the NFL decided to do a City Jersey promotion, like what the NBA does, they would insist that the Ravens have secured the permission or rights first. Because people will squat on trademarks to get a payout from an NFL team.

I’m just saying, as stewards of the trademark, there are many worse options than the Ravens.

I can’t read the article, but I thought in rem action was extraordinarily slow, even by judicial standards. Isn’t it like a property bankruptcy, where anyone with a potential stake in the property needs to be notified and given the opportunity to be heard?

G&A in White Marsh is known for its hot dogs. After taking forever to move out of the city, they seem to finally be up and running. They’re in the same center on Route 7 as Taco Love Grill.

I have seen one branded Coney Island place, and it is waaay north of the city on Route 1 heading for Conowingo. I’ve no idea if it’s open. I’ve never been there. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone there. Each time I pass it I wonder what the hell it’s doing there. It might be attached to a bar. It may even be passed Conowingo and on the way to Pennsylvania. Honestly you’re better off going to DC. But if you’re looking online and they’re insisting there’s one “in the Baltimore area” I’ll bet that’s it.

Not sure which part of 40 you’re seeing this, but many of those businesses near the Balt/Harford line employ a lot of manual labor. Construction, roofers, warehouses, etc. Also lots of little immigrant communities out there. An ICE raid wouldn’t be out of the question, even though that’s something you usually hear about at the big factories in the South and Midwest.

Another possibility - MSP and BaltCo police run regular checkpoints on truckers along that stretch of 40, stopping lots of dump trucks and small haulers. If they caught wind of some shenanigans from the port, or found a flagged immigrant in a stop, that might be Border Patrol territory.

“So before I leave I pee on the top of the floating tree, right? And then when the little bald guys come back, they don’t know, right? And then they float the tree all around, hundreds of miles, yeah? And now I’ve got the biggest territory in Alaska!”

Well, it isn’t really ‘normal’, I’m talking about one or two individuals per year, and it usually makes the news so they can remind people to stay away. They’re probably just expanding their territory to find food before hibernation or something. But then again I have no idea what kind of territory bears usually have. There’s lots of quiet wooded places north and west of the city, it wouldn’t surprise me if some of those had a few year-round. Last year there was one in Kingsville, which is almost to 95 NE of the city.

For the area, I would say black bears, but they usually don’t get into the city proper. Quick google says they’ve been seen in Towson and Owings Mills in the last couple years, so theoretically they could wander into the city, but they certainly don’t live here. But you don’t need to go very far west or north from the city line to get a nonzero chance of seeing a bear.
