No, I live in Olympia and go there all the time. It’s fine, not a place you I would want to live but it’s fine. It’s like any small rural town in Washington. Aberdeen is the one that’s really rough.

Check out the hike to Lena Lake on the hood canal not too far from you. Also Olympia is worth a visit, you could check out the waterfront. I like Wildman Brewing in downtown Oly.

No problem. I would also check out Denny Creek and the other trailheads around Snoqualmie. About an hour from Tacoma.

Little Mashel Falls in Eatonville would be my Recommendation. I don’t know how a lot of hikes around mount Rainier would be this time of year. Also the hikes around the hood canal would only be about 2 hours from Tacoma.

I work for the NTPS as a para educator and have had an overall positive experience. They pay the best for paras in Thurston County. A lot of the schools in NTPS are Title 1 which presents its own specific set of challenges but I would still definitely recommend it. Good luck.
