I'm not a critic but I'm thinking that penetration is happening in the mouth and the genitals are hidden by the serpent. Off the cuff, I'd say it's something to do with missing sexual fidelity.

That is also intetesting because snakes use it to "taste" the world around them, so the finger covering it could represent a numbness or, alternatevely, some form of pleasure.

I agree with you that it is an accurate reproduction but the way the fingers are situated still seems to be intended to me
