Having some flat scrap silicone might come in handy.
In the past I've used pieces as grip mats, wraps for stiff and uncomfortable heavy bag handles... quite a few things actually. They're at the top of my scrap stack and they're all just the same few pieces from one small sandwich bag I had 5 years ago.

Good suggestion. Silicone can work well for hot pads too (the kind you put hot pans on).

Come to think of it I think I still have a piece in my apron pocket I used for grabbing a hot pan lid. My gloves got wet and I needed something fast and easy

Good idea, thanks - it's quite a versatile material. If i'm not able to fix it, will use the bag as scrap silicone

Buy some sort of raft patch kit

It really is a wonder, I just wish it was easier to work with as a DIY material

They're good to have around when working with hot glue, any glue that drips onto it peels right off
