Yes it was to preserve parking for residents. The city is considering restoring partial two way traffic, but I suspect that now that garden street residents have gotten a taste of the good life they will try to fight the city on that

There have been a whole lot of complaints from people in the immediate neighborhood. They're not the ones supporting this.

Well, first — there are people who live there who do enjoy the change. There are also people who hate any change but will possibly change their minds as they get used to it.

Second — these streets belong to the city and are funded and used by all residents of the city. I’m not sure why people live in the city if they can’t accept that.

Sigh just another narrow minded take refusing to acknowledge why people in the immediate neighborhood would react to a significant change like this after having lived with things being a certain way for literally decades. These city subs are often way too vehement in their inability to understand someone else’s circumstances….

Attitudes like that are how we ended up being unable to build any infrastructure anywhere. Cities are almost by definition dynamic places.

While I can understand the neighbors frustration, that doesn’t mean that it is just to stop public works projects because some people don’t like change
