Do any Fairfield county towns have access to some good hiking?

Need to be near white plains for work and am looking eastern part of Connecticut (Fairfield county) to save on taxes vs westchester county.

Would love to settle in a town with some good hiking trails nearby that me and the family could get to in the morning before work (I.e. only a short drive).

Do any of the towns have good hiking? Not just walking trails, but something with some elevation and difficulty?

Pound ridge, NY looks like it has some good hiking? Anything like that in CT?

The AT goes through CT in Sherman which is the most northern town in FFLD county. You can take it up near the Housatonic and I hear it is quite nice!

Oh that is awesome I didn’t know that! Will have to check out those trails. Probably too far north to live and do during the week, but could be nice weekend trip.

Babcock Preserve and Mianis Park in Greenwich both have good hiking. I go to them all the time.

Brookfield has some great hiking trails (including a couple lakefront trails on Lake Lillinonah), and is about 45 minutes from White Plains via I-84 and I-684.

Upper Fairfield County has a fair few. Bethel/Newtown/New Fairfield areas.

There are some good hikes in the area. In Newtown there are both upper and lower Paugussett forest hikes. Danbury has Tarrywile park. Squantz Pond in New Fairfield. In Ridgefield there is Bennetts Pond.

Redding (bedroom community) and Bethel (business district) are affordable and close to many trails. NRVT is being built now.
