I have a cousin in Connecticut and I’m trying to find a neat gift idea. She’s young and crochet is getting to be really trendy right now so I’d like to send her a nice crochet set (a few skeins of yarn, some hooks and maybe a few ideas) since crochet seems to be getting pretty hip on social media these days. I’m in Florida and I wouldn’t mind sending her Florida goods but I think it would be cool for her to see something from her own area. It seems like that state is chock full of weirdness and crafts people so if anyone has recommendations of a popular farm or an Etsy shop in Connecticut that would be great.

I knit and crochet, and yarn preferences are really subjective.

I would buy your cousin a gift certificate to her local yarn shop, so she can choose exactly what she wants.

For example, I can only touch vegan yarn, merino, or silk. Everything else burns—even alpaca, which everyone insists is so soft & hypoallergenic. In addition, I have a very limited palette.

But I’m happy to hear “the kids” are getting into r/crochet.

The Hickories in Ridgefield sells "Chunky weight" wool from their flock. Their shopping page shows "low stock", so you may not have much choice. They will ship.
