Hi i have been apartment hunting forever and finally found something that looks kind of good in the Farren Ave area of New Haven. Is this a safe area? Would I be able to walk my dog without being worried?

The best thing you could do is just go there and spend some time and get a feel for it. One trick that I do is I ask the mail carrier. Nobody knows the area better than them

Go at night since it gets dark at 5:00. If you can't walk around at night, that's your answer

It’s not the best part or the worst. A little further down is called the Annex, walkable, parks along the water and less industrial.

For a younger female living alone, I would exercise caution in that area

I'd say it's an okay area. A little bit run down, but not super dangerous. My aunt lives one street over on Fairmont and when I go visit her, I don't see anything too crazy.

Farren and Fairmont are in the upper part of what they call "The Annex". You don't really hear anything bad happening in that area, compared to other neighborhoods in NH.
