What’s the deal with Woodbury schools? How is this even possible?

I don’t know if I’m late to the party or what, but I’ve just learned that a high ranking union member of Woodbury schools has 3 accusations of inappropriate conduct with minors, and has faced no investigation or disciplinary action, and then a new teacher was suspended for 5 days after inappropriately snap chatting with an underage student, taking pictures of himself in his bed. His only requirement to return to work was to take a title IX class which has nothing to do with what happened.

Teachers are mandated reporters, why have the police not been informed of this? Why are they keeping it so quiet?

Teachers are mandated reporters. How do you know they didn't report this? The school's investigation is totally separate from the child protective service investigation.

Yeah, but police would have been notified and the resident trooper hadn’t gotten any reports from the school when he was asked about it. Now, who knows how many knew anything about it. But I’m sure there’s rumors around the school.

I’m going to try and re-listen to the radio broadcast when I have some time. I guess someone FOIAd records for a construction project and they released a bunch of documents and he was stunned what he found buried in there.

It was on the radio, discovered during a FOIA request for construction projects. Can’t seem to find any news articles. They said police were notified by the people who found the reports, however they had not yet heard anything from the school themselves. Let me do some more digging.

Yeah, if this is true this seriously needs to be public knowledge. Students are at risk if these people are allowed to continue as is.

I graduated from the academy of arts in 2012. The year after a teacher of mine drove a student home, hooked up with her, and turned himself in the next day. The school asked him to resign and made no further actions.

Haven’t seen any news articles on it, however have them check their emails. I’ve heard the superintendent sent out an email.

Just read the email. They’re claiming:

  1. All law enforcement has been informed and “no agency felt the need to take action.”
  2. No person was ever endangered.
  3. Matter has been addressed.
  4. No laws were broken and it is a personnel matter.

The rumor at the high school is this is referencing a teacher found with alcohol in their car.

The email was a little flippant if it’s really inappropriate conduct.

Very interesting. I don’t see why a teacher having alcohol in their car is an issue anyways unless it’s like sitting in obvious view and they’re going out during planning periods and taking shots.

I genuinely hope that’s just the case.

Not sure if CT ever passed a law against "passing the trash", but as recently as 2016 the state had not.

Basically districts could have allegations of sexual assault or misconduct by a teacher or other educator or school staff and just allow them to resign, meaning they could be hired by another district.
