Have a 25' x 5' section of concrete slab that I need to remove this adhesive from. I removed engineered wood flooring, and am going to lay LVP. Floor needs to be fairly smooth and level but I'm not worried about stains or imperfections. What (not expensive) chemical/soap/degreaser would most likely help loosen this to scrape up? It is VERY sticky as shown.

We had the same, but on advice of our contractor had it tested for asbestos. Both the tile and mastic had asbestos and we had to hire a specialized company to remove all of it 🤦

I’d rent a flooring sander and go to town. Can’t be more than $100 for a day rental

Grinding would gum up and/or burn, and there's a lot to remove. Would have to rent a specialty scraping type machine. Would rather spend less and use some elbow grease.

Get a oscillating tool with a scraping blade onit, made for this.

You can rent or buy a floor scraper with a metal/carbide blade on it. It has a long handle like a shovel, with the flat blade on the end. It should suffice for taking that glue off the cement floor.

I have a floor scraper, but this stuff is just too thick and sticky. Can't get a blade under it unless it's razor sharp.

I’d try some less volatile chemical strippers. I have some orange ‘flavored’ stripper that seemed to work on the tar style adhesive. Get a little bottle to start, try a few methods (maybe cover with plastic wrap to lessen evaporation), before giving up on this method.

I think you can buy a long blade attachment for it.

You could skim coat it with modified thinset
You don't really care how well it adheres as it is just a shim

Try regular cooking oil on a test spot, leave it to soak for 24 hours. You can clean up the oil with blue Dawn.

I had some black tarry adhesive left on my floor after removing awful vinyl tiles, and had to chip them off with a hammer and cold chisel. Took a while and left me with a dusty floor, so had to give it a coat of self-leveller.
