For me it is pretty much as you say. Growing up in the 60-70s these sounds were linked to the west coast beach culture. If you want something that is reminiscent of the ocean some of Enya’s (or others I’m not thinking of) music has that ebb and flow feel of waves on the surf.

I guess the wrong tile in the wrong location. Perhaps this is what unglazed terracotta tile is meant for. I’ve seen people install that stuff inside and I never understood why. So the tile is cool because of it’s contact with the slab, I suppose if you had installed under floor heating you could turn it on to help prevent condensation.

I’d try some less volatile chemical strippers. I have some orange ‘flavored’ stripper that seemed to work on the tar style adhesive. Get a little bottle to start, try a few methods (maybe cover with plastic wrap to lessen evaporation), before giving up on this method.
