Air quality in the Seattle area has been terrible...I hate "fire season"! Can't wait for a good soaking rain!

No kidding. I have an autoimmune disorder and smoke is on my enemies list.

I'd happily lend you some of ours. We've nothing but rain for the third year in a row. But at least there are no fires, indeed.

Cheers from Australia.

Yeah our forests don't recover after these fires... So sad to watch our cherished resources literally go up in flames

We finally got some rain this weekend in Seattle area...air quality has been HUGELY improved! Hope you dry out down there!

awidden t1_itndnuy wrote

That's great to hear, mate!

Yeah, we seem to be getting a bit more rain to be on the safe side...There's not a patch of earth that's not soggy on the whole NSW coast.

Not to be rude but the air quality in Seattle has been better than the majority of the western United States….

I can imagine! This year up here hasn't been as bad as the past couple summers...but it's still nasty.

The PNW was even better pre-2017 when we didn't have a "fire season."

SounderBruce t1_ir8p3vw wrote

2015 is when we really started to have prolonged effects in the Puget Sound region.

psunavy03 t1_ir8plyn wrote

Didn't see it living on the Eastside that year. Really saw it in the south sound in 17.

We have had fires and smoke ever since I was born. I live in the cascades and it isn’t really a season. More just fires happen.

psunavy03 t1_ir8jm3t wrote

I first moved to WA in 2006, and I can't ever recall the smoke being as bad in the Puget Sound lowlands as it's been since 2017.

Born and Raised since 1994 wildfires have been a recurring theme in summer months. Smokey the bear and all that.

Irish_RN t1_ir8sddn wrote

Born and raised since 1981. We did not have this smoke until 2017.

17

Grewhit t1_ir8v3kn wrote

Born and raised 1989 and I too recognize 2017 as the year the smoke descended.

I was aware of wildfires and knew of them occurring in the region but we never had summers where smoke and ash was a part of our lives until recently.

Im not sure which fire. This was taken around the Diablo Lake area, lots of smoke just hanging around

YourMominator t1_ir8fb7h wrote

It's not good that we now seem to have an official fire season here in the PNW. There's been more than a few times that we have had to go somewhere else to escape smoke on the weekends so my DH can breathe.

I took a similar pic in Glacier back in 2020. It's a cool effect in photos, but I would have loved to have done the Highline Trail in clear conditions

Unfortunately we're in for a delayed winter if I'm reading long range forecast right. I'm down in bend and for a minute our fire died down. Now it's kicking back up.... Really hoping something happens. That cedar Creek fire is burning near some of the prettiest lakes/forests we have
