What you can’t see: Freezing cold windgusts & me and my equipment almost falling in the canyon 🤪

Thanks for this. I always wonder if I’m the only who has misadventures like this…and if I was a real photographer, nothing bad or clumsy would ever happen (and I would never miss a shot).

It took me 10 years to be happy with whatever outcome I get on attempts for photos, wherever or whenever. And in my opinion, a really good photo is only possible with good lighting conditions, therefore it’s almost pure luck (and maybe an eye for meteorology) to get an outstanding photo. All my favorite shots in my portfolio happened during fog or/and sundown/sunrise and/or northern lights or whatever stunning weather conditions, the location itself won’t change at all, despite of the talent or camera or planning.

Amazing photo!

I have a lot respect for anyone who can capture this level of photo from there. I have been twice and both times chickened out with the expensive camera/tripod.

Great shot! Would make a nice wallpaper if the resolution wasn't that gimped. I understand the reason though...

My wife and I managed to drive to this, we encountered a motor home stoped at the river but no people. We found 4 drunk Germans in the snow at Haifoss. Offered them a ride back when we were done and they declined. “We made it here, we’ll have to earn our way back.” LOL.

My husband and I were able to drive around the entire country and saw this beauty. We went at a tentative time during COVID (restrictions were just starting to lift) and there were almost no tourists. It was, and will forever be, one of the best trips to Iceland I take

What’s not in picture is the waterfall on the right side that’s just equally as stunning!

The 2-hour drive through the F-roads was really worth it. Even though we could only stay for 15 minutes or so due to the freezing wind. It was brutal, even though I wanted to stay much longer to admire the beautiful view.

The hike down was one of my favorite things I did in Iceland! Do you have this in 2560x1440 +?

I’m not an Iceland expert but technically all beaches in Iceland are black sand beaches. Winter is best for winter activities like ice cave exploration, snow mobility on glaciers, and seeing the northern lights. Summer is better for road conditions and doing outdoor hikes and stuff like that.

You can see black sand beaches at any time tho. The most popular one is in the town Vik on the south of the island.

My tripod was in full - flat to to ground - mode and I still was to afraid to don’t hold it down with my hands. Some of the strongest windgusts I ever witnessed.
