As someone who grew up in an east coast city, and then moved out to Oregon 20 years ago...this whole state is basically earth porn. It's rare to have so many types of natural beauty in one (sorta) concentrated area. Oregon is truly blessed.

The amount of different environments you can find in Oregon is truly spectacular. And most of them can be reached with a couple hours' drive from Portland.

I live not far from Silver falls, and it is a truly gorgeous hike. There's another place in Oregon called Opal Creek and it's beautiful as well.
