That’s way scarier. Protecting elevator operator and horse drawn carriage driver jobs from being replaced is dumb. If your job can be automated away, it should be. Most jobs suck.
If unemployment becomes an issue there are things like UBI that can be used. Technology has been promising a reduction in the amount of work required for like a century but we’re working just as much as ever. If it finally starts delivering on that promise we should get the hell out of the way.

The problem is that technology has caught up, but we still haven't worked out enough of our social and economic issues to support everyone who would be replaced by complete automation. Dramatic pointing at bootstrappers and "nobody wants to work" believers here.
Additionally, any electronic system is susceptible to attack, and as proven by the last roughly 6 years, anyone bored enough and with something to prove can cause serious havoc.
