I could see us handing over decision making and logistics over to AI. Giving AI authority to forcefully manage complex capitalist markets might turn out successful, for instance. Humans honestly need a sane parent to step in before we pollute and nuke the hell out of everything.

Well our admission into the Culture was considered and declined, so we'll have to do it on our own.

This ML model, after the solution space was painstakingly characterized by humans, found matrix multiplication algorithms up to 20% faster than the naive one.

I don't think that this is a big step on the way to strong AI.

the ai is going to prioritize profits. it’s just going to lead to more pollution

it's really exciting to see A.I finally emerge like this. Soon ai will dominate economics and force change; it could be a golden age, odds are thing will get much worse for the peasants.

Humans are not special. The purpose of biological life is to create AI machines to replace us.

We aren't special..but there is no purpose. Only what makes automata, i.e. self sustaining systems. The DNA instructions that comprise humans have the potential to result in the creation of even more complex instruction sets..ones which are not bound to organic encodings that can self replicate and convert even more energy on a galactic scale. This is not purposeful tho...simply inevitable based on the rules of universe.
