Morning/ evening routine

What are some good habits and things to include in a morning routine and an evening one?

My main self improvement goals are

  • Waking up earlier to give myself more time to do things
  • Cutting down on my screen time
  • Reading the pile of books I have on my table šŸ˜‚
  • Feeling more awake and rested in the morning.

I want to try and create a morning routine to set me up for a good, productive day and an evening routine to help me successfully wind down.

The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod helped me hugely in this area.

Meditate, read, exercise, journal, appreciate, visualize your day.

When I get up in the morning I put my yoga clothes on, ignore every single excuse that jumps into my head - do the workout then start the rest of my morning. I swear this is whatā€™s made me do a 15 min yoga/gentle stretch every single work day for 1.5 years (so far)

Same! I used to try to do my work outs in the afternoons/evenings after work, but it was so easy to make excuses & eventually Iā€™d drop the routine.

1st thing in the morning workouts are 100% the key to my consistency. Havenā€™t missed a day (aside from when I was away on holidays or had COVID) in 1.5 years.

Workout, going on a walk, meditate/mindfulness, journal, write down your goals, little to no screen time an hour before bed, etc,

Thanks for the good suggestions. Gonna sound stupid but what can I do for the hour before bed with no screen time? Iā€™m so used to scrolling on TikTok or on here

I feel you! Iā€™m having a lot of trouble with my screen time lately. But generally, what I like to do during my ā€œno screen timeā€ is read a book or have a little stretching session in my pjs before bed while putting a soothing music and lighting some candles. Iā€™m personally not big on meditation, but thatā€™s something you could do. Having a shower before bed time is apparently also great to improve your sleep.

Not sure if this counts as ā€œscreen timeā€, but just listening to music while laying in bed could be quite relaxing

A walk will help you a lot. At first it was tiring when i tried it out but i got used to it and i love walking and it's healthy to be active in general so you could try that
