Technically, they actually built paragliders, and dummond built the first airplane.

Imo, it changes based on the definition of an airplane, clearly stating it has to be powered or propelled, where the Wrights only took inclines or pushed it themselves, not actually propeling through air, as Dumont did. Thus me saying they built a paraglider, not an airplane.
