LPT: be kind of a passive secretive a**hole to your friends to see who really wants to get through that stuff and really be your friend.

I left social media (Facebook, etc.) in 2019.
My wife tells me happy birthday, and my Mom and brother text me. Oh and I get a bday email from a Dave Matthews Band fan site I signed up for back in like 1998.

Why would I want to make myself sadder
I just always put my birthday as a few days off. Just because they ask for some info doesn't mean you have to be accurate!
Marlboro sent me more birthday gifts if the last 10 years than anyone else I know.

LPT: Deleting your birthday from social media to see who your “true friends” are will result in sadness.
