When you first get a job and start making money, don't spend your money on material possessions. Buy food and work on a learning to cook a healthy diet. Learning to cook and being able to save money young can get you ahead in life, to save for bigger dreams. Once you can afford a healthy diet, any job can be at your command, of course you will be subject to physical lackluster life has bequeathed you, vastly, fuel is a key component to anything we do, otherwise. A healthy diet, feeds not only the body, but the mind. I can't tell you how many friends in high school and college that wasted away because of malnutrition. People spent money on things from shoes to drugs to cars, without any regard to physical health. The deteriorated mind or body isn't something lost in a day, necessarily, but what is lost over a long period, little by little. It all adds up. Every missed opportunity to feed the mind body and soul needs to be equated into your lifestyle. The mind body and soul need to be fed first, not necessarily in that order, before one can play in the folly of capitalism, or any other ism, for that matter. I sincerely hope this helps you as much as it helped me.

This is actually not bad advice.

The other benefit of being able to cook is that you're able to cook. It's a very handy skill to have, one that can be used to impress and charm your friends, romantic interests, colleagues, family, etc.

It's well known in my social circle that my partner and I can cook extremely well and we use that to host dinner parties and keep our friends amused. If you feed people well, they tend to like you more.

Yes, thank you. I was spelling from memory.

Nice! That’s a fun one to make. Takoyaki batter is similar in many ways and would be great to make for food-loving friends.

Especially early on, look into long life pantry items. Rice, pasta, flour, salt and pepper. All of which is cheaper if bought in bulk.

You can technically make a meal with just that if you had too, but using that as a building block you can do a bunch.

Research for "3 bucket financial system", this is useful in terms of a fundamental financial ground.

I keep telling myself I'll learn to cook, but where to find time...

Maybe tomorrow - although probably unlikely

I don't get this. At least where I live buying healthy food is easily more affordable. Is this an American thing?

Like sure you might not get premium herbs or whatever, but surely its fairly cheap to buy basic things like mince, potatoes, pasta, tomatoes, beans etc

This may not read the same for someone who grew up with a well to do family or lifestyle.

Well to do or not surely doesn't change that buying basic foodstuffs must be cheaper than buying a processed meal?

Might be an American thing. Cheap frozen pizza is $1.50. One pound of ground beef is $4.50, and that’s definitely not what someone would call a balanced meal. Still more expensive than the fast, processed meal, and that’s before everything else you’d have to get to make it part of a healthy meal.

Oh I got you, that's not what I implied at all. Tho I must emphasize the term "healthy diet", which is entirely subjective.., and what will truly drive you forward, is working towards being able to afford a healthy diet before material possessions, as a healthy diet fuels better mindsets. I apologize for the misinterpretation on my part.
