I've got bad brains stuff on there, I love their guitar solos too. Thanks for the recommendations
The first Mr. Bungle album is essential (as are their others, but the funk wanes).
If you like Primus then check out Stump (not any metal, not much funk, but an obviously huge influence on Primus and a great band!).
Really great you are listening to this. It is great music some of my favorite still.
I’m a big Faith No More fan, but Fishbone had some of the chillest mosh pits back in the 90’s. Felt like everyone was your friend.

Really chill but man could they hit the accelerator in their concerts and go to the heavy stuff. That is the stuff I love.
Orgone is so great! not at all metal from what I've heard, but solid funk grooves through and through.
Would add Budos Band to your comment, albeit not metal either.
Tour George Clinton's stuff, you'll surely find some things you like.
The album "S.C.I.E.N.C.E." by Incubus is a must listen for funk metal
PRIMUS SUCKS!!

Check out Death. Start with Politicians In My Eyes.

In the zone where hair metal was phasing out and a better and brighter future was rolling in there were a few metal tangential but not quite funky dorks like Scatterbrain and Lord Tracy. Maybe the Limbomaniacs too but I haven’t heard them in 30 years and maybe I’m remembering them wrongly.
