Submersed.
They were a promising hard rock band on a major label with a gig touring with Alterbridge in the mid-2000's, but because of the rapid decline of hard rock's mainstream popularity in the mid-2000's, they never got the success they deserved. They released only two albums before disbanding.
Fortunately, some of their members are still active. The lead guitarist and drummer are now in Tremonti, and the singer joined forces with the original band members of Tantric/Days Of The New to form the band, Blisskrieg. Submersed was awesome as a unit though, and I still miss 'em.

Hipsters on the internet made it cool to hate on Nu Metal and Post-Grunge, so alot of younger folks don't even bother checking it out, sadly. I've been diving back into alot of late 90s/early 2000s rock lately, and love it even more now.

Strongly disagree. The genre is based on looped beats and spoken word vocals. Not alot of variation there, sonically.
Rock on the other hand has countless subgenres. One rock subgenre, metal, has countless subgenres on it's own.

Alien Ant Farm. They have way more good stuff than just that Michael Jackson cover. Faith No More is also a killer band that's mostly known for one hit song.
