While Ioos did extensive work "in sports", his talent is primarily in fine-art portraiture, which is what leads to shots like this. He didnt approach hos sports work as "sports photographer". This is no knock on sports photographers, but I think this one photo perfectly illustrates the difference between the crafts.

It's like renaissance proportions - but stretched out, showing the magnitude of it all. So cool! I don't even like basketball.

Thanks for the info.

Seriously good use of a super-wide lens too.

That score board would have been pretty high-tech for 1966.

Those fancy shoes are part of the reason why players today are so much better than back then.

To clarify it's not the only reason, but fancy shoes along with better training regiments, nutrition, sports science, sleeping habits and a million other things we've improved on is the reason basketball is what it is today

The vertical on Russell! Read his autobiography… there’s a part where he discovered in college he could get his head above the rim!

I love the lighting in the old arenas with the dark corners. Super dramatic. Bill looks like an angel.

Interesting that some of the Celtics players have “Boston” on their jerseys while others have “Celtics”.
