It’s always a good idea. Best places to go are touchless washes so you don’t have to worry about your paint and their brushes. Also if they have an undercarriage wash, do that too. Plus you can stay warm in your car.

And make sure you wash the car early in the day, waiting later can possibly cause your doors to freeze overnight.

Brushes may not touch your car, but the pressure coming out of those water jets often worries me too.

Something tells me those hanging cloth strips are less harmful to your paint than 40000 psi water jets.
