I found this fact sheet

https://www.dot.state.pa.us/public/dvspubsforms/BMV/BMV%20Fact%20Sheets/fs-ant.pdf

which led to this form

https://www.dot.state.pa.us/Public/DVSPubsForms/BMV/BMV%20Forms/mv-11.pdf

I find it interesting that the form does not ask for insurance info.

I know you said this was a transfer of owners, and these forms might not apply but if this form is not asking for insurance, I don’t see why a transfer would but since I am not 100% sure, you can contact penn dot

OK, from what I've found in the PA Driver's Manual pg 58:

"There is only one exception to the school bus stopping requirement. If you are

approaching a school bus that is stopped with its red lights flashing and stop

arm extended and you are driving on the opposite side of a divided highway,

(i.e. concrete/metal barriers, guide rails or trees/rocks/streams/grass median),

you do not have to stop. Reduce your speed and continue driving with caution."

Since this was not a divided highway, it appears you were ticketed correctly - however, if it gives you an opportunity to fight it, then do so. Appear before the judge and explain what happened - maybe "bonus points" if you're a parent.

ETA: Honestly, if they’re just giving you a fine, pay it.

If they’re going to suspend/points fight it. At least that’s what I would do.

So technically you do have an income, its just not wages - its money in the form of him taking care of you.

Not sure if any rules have changed but to qualify for medical assistance, they will want to know how you’re financially survivng and telling them you don’t get an income is not going to cut it. That’s why they want proof that you don’t get an income but that in of itself, makes them dig deeper - how are you financially survivng.

They’ll want to know the household income, the household size and living expenses.

Even if you were separated, living on your own with your child - if you get child support, they’ll want to know - it might not be used as income but they’ll still want to know.

If his income exceeds the threshold, then you won’t qualify for pennie/medicaid.

This has been my experience, years ago, i am not sure if things have changed.

When I got my ezpass, the rep said it can be anywhere in the car & it would be read when i go through a booth.

I registered the transponder & got the app too. Placed the transponder in my glove box because I didn’t want anyone to steal it.

And away I go. Toll after toll. Then Toll by plate invoices came in one by one. $140 total, i kept calling customer service they’d correct it, giving me ez pass rate. Then one smart customer service rep asked:

“where is your ez pass?

The glove box!

“Oh no, it has to be mounted on windshield, behind rear view mirror.” She said.

Problem solved.

The transponder is “turned on” once it’s registered with ezpass and it has to be properly mounted in car to be read.

I’m not saying you didn’t do this, just sharing my experience.

Most, if not all, booths don’t have a “toll arm”, the signs say “keep moving”

  1. Do you remember a toll arm?
  2. Do you remember the road? I-76, 43, etc?

If you paid cash & are now getting an invoice, (if you hadn’t already), contact pa turnpike

By Phone

For agent assistance with E-ZPass or Toll By Plate issues: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

For agent assistance with general inquiries or permit questions: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

If you got scammed, they need to know. Most, if not all, booths have cameras - this is how you were found. They can investigate where you paid & if you should’ve paid.

Hope this helps.

You’re right it doesn’t specifically state what to do if you lose your out of state license, thank you u/witqueen for the link.

However OP, you cannot have a license in multiple states, to make the transition a tad easier on you, you’ll probably have to get a duplicate license from Florida to get license in Pennsylvania without having to take a test:

You will be required to surrender your out-of-state driver's license (valid or expired six months or less) before PennDOT can issue you a PA Driver's License. You will need to take a vision-screening test and complete Form DL-180R (PDF)

I don’t work for any DMV but I’m almost certain PA will know you have a license in another state, but because it’s a state agency, I am almost certain, it’s not a ‘thing’ of them switch(ing) it over they’re not going to make it that easy for you but I could be wrong.

If you hadn’t found it yet, it appears you can request a duplicate online:

https://www.flhsmv.gov/driver-licenses-id-cards/renew-or-replace-your-florida-driver-license-or-id-card/

Hope this helps.
