FWIW, Sheetz is by far the best paying place for this type of work in my area in NW PA. Obviously, it could still be better, but it is a much better option than any other customer service type of job here

Sure, but a crown still costs $500. That's almost a full week of work, just to keep your job, assuming you only have one bad tooth.

I couldn't remember what I paid years ago and wanted to underestimate so people didn't cry about that.

I just shopped around for a crown. My insurance covered half of the cost, which i was quoted between $1.4 k - $2.5 k. $500 is definitely a far underestimation, which further supports the point you are making. This system is fucked.

Prices are so high, I swear dentists roll the money in, new practices pop up like an STD these days

Orthodontist on TikTok says he graduated with 1 million in student loans. Not sure if that's normal, but it sounds like trickle down economics to me. Charge the dentist a million to get a job, they charge $1500 for crowns.

they pay 15.00 an hour near me in NE PA, which is pretty much on par with others in the area and fast food joints. none of which have "smile requirements"
