Yeah scratching my head a bit on that. I get not wanting to live in Allentown, but the outlying areas are really nice and benefit from proximity to a larger city.

Ive just heard from a couple people those areas have gotten more dangerous / high crime, are they just being dramatic?

Again.... I wouldn't want to live in Allentown proper.... But largely... Yeah they are being dramatic. There's a lot of safe areas around the Lehigh valley. I'd look at crime statistics vs anecdotal evidence.
