Thank you. I've already put out fifty job applications since I was laid off. I was finally getting ahead and want to make sure this doesn't put me sliding any further backwards. Appreciate you.
We really need a mega thread or sidebar info regarding navigating the unemployment system. There are so many posts about this.
I'm in Philly as well. Social work in mental healthcare.
The memory of their music from their "on hold" waiting queue still drives me nuts. But if you have the time to waste up to two hours, eventually - in my experience from 2012 - someone will answer, and help you out. Unfortunately almost every time someone "helped" me, they did something wrong, and I had to call back later to get it fixed by someone else. The conclusion was inescapable that the system was intentionally designed to be hard to use
If you call your state representative or state senator, they should be able to help you with this.
Man, I would gladly welcome hold music at this point. I just get a busy signal and then it hangs up on me. And yes, I really do feel as though the system was designed that way. Most systems are. Deter people from receiving help so they have no choice but to go further into debt as interest rates skyrocket, even more when their credit score starts going to shit.
I just emailed mine, thank you!
Good luck!! 🍀
I called Ciresi's office and they actually helped a lot.
Just emailed mine, thank you!
My exBF got fired in middle of October, been trying to claim unemployment since then and no luck. Says the system is 6 months behind 🤷🏼♀️
When this happens you gotta be persistent and keep calling in. I work a full time “seasonal” job and get laid off yearly, there’s been plenty of times I’ve had an issue and called the number over 200 times to finally get hold music and wait 2 hours on hold to get to someone. Persistence is the key. Hopefully your rep will get everything sorted out. Best of luck
Please call too! Emails can get lose & a phone call will get you help faster.
If you want to keep trying, download an auto-redialer and let it go to town. We did this on both of our phones when my husband had to correct something in his unemployment information. I set mine to redial every five seconds for 100 redials. It was nice that both of us could do other stuff while we waited to actually get a ring through. I was able to get through twice within a couple of hours (first time hubby accidentally hung up so we had to do it again). Good luck!
I wish I could but due to COVID, I am trying to cut the amount of talking at length down as much as possible.
I've tried to input request via email and portal so I'm hoping something may come of it soon. It's all so tiring and now my dog is sick.
During the pandemic, my UI had been on hold for months, it was a state rep's office that finally got me a callback.
YMMV of course since reps are... a mixed bag.
Or you could just wait until you are covid free, and get another job in 5 minutes. EVERYONE IS HIRING.
PA CareerLinks can also help you setup an in-person appointment with a UC representative. You have to call your PACL to set them up, more info: https://www.uc.pa.gov/Pages/UC-Appointment.aspx
I had to call my local representative as well.
i called the number once and was put on hold for over an hour just for them to tell me i had to go to one of the offices in person. to say i was frustrated is an understatement.
Wow. I hadn’t thought of that. Thanks so much.
Sadly the system is designed to fail people. It needs a major revamp, modern tech, and just to be right, regardless of the reason.
Pretty much what state reps are for when they aren’t otherwise trying to make our lives harder by attempting to make abortion criminal and and forcing us to vote only on Election Day regardless if we can make it there or not. Cause you know, most of us work more days a week than they do.
I worked in behavioral health, check out CCTC…good organization with good work culture…I also worked at Belmont Behavioral Hospital but I wouldn’t wish that place on an enemy.

The news said the average time to get paid is 6-8 weeks so looking for a job is going to be priority #1. The people in the career link office will be your best bet, and you will have to just get better and see them next week. You can also write your state rep about it, they can help.
