The farm show needs to trend back to being an event for people in the agricultural industry, and not a place for people to shuffle around aimlessly slurping down milkshakes.

I’m sure the kids will like it.

It’s always super crowded though, and it makes being an animal exhibitor pretty hard sometime. People won’t give you any space when trying to move animals to the arenas, or constantly trying to pet your animals. I think things have gotten better in that regard, but I was always on the lookout for kids on leashes, as they seemed to be the unpredictable ones.

Even getting into the farm show complex with livestock in the trail is frustrating, as traffic down there is horrible and people are always cutting you off or braking for no reason.

I think your sentiment is what resulted in the competing event in York during the same time frame. Equipment/tractors, fertilizers, feeds, etc. Much less petting, gawking, milkshaking. I'd have gone to both but can't be two places.

I mean, it's still a really cool event (& free!) where you can check out a buncha stuff about agriculture in PA. Definitely not what it was but most things change and the number of smaller family farms get acquired for subdivisions, warehouses, or corporate farming.
