Appreciate the nod, but this isn't our type of redneck. The gold chain and gangsta hat doesn't really fit here (except for one dude, and anyone from the ville would know who that is).

This is the big Woo or West Warwick.

Wrights chicken farm, it’s got a capacity of around thirteen hundred people. They are also the first job for just about half the town. Seriously every kid in high school ether works there or knows a classmate that does.

Edit: they also have an attached gift shop that’s pretty nice. Despite the name they are not the same company as the dairy farm of the same name.

Any shitty town in RI where you think houses cost 100k-200k but nowadays are 500k-1mil.

Woonsocket is its own country. It defies the laws of nature. And the walmart on diamond Hill road, I saw a dude peeing down an isle.

The town makes no sense.

And I got my chest tattooed in a irish Puerto Ricans mother-in-laws bedroom. Nothing makes sense.

I’ve been gone since 2001, but it holds a special place in my heart. Nobody ever truly leaves, they just go away for a while. Then they miss things like swimming in Social Ocean, the fragrance on NETCO on a warm sunny day, getting serenaded by being yelled at by crackheads outside of Moonlight Weiners, the women fighting for equal pay on Arnold Street, the smell of secondhand smoke mixed in with your lo mein at Chan’s, the sound of piss sizzling in the sauna when that weirdo keeps sneaking back in to the health and racquet club men’s locker room, buying an autumnfest button in August and wearing it on your Tazmanian devil sweatshirt until June. You just can’t find these things anywhere else.

It is. My mom lives right near there still. I do have a lot of love for that city. There really are some hidden gems. Did you see the post where someone was asking what to see when visiting Woonsocket? There were a lot of good suggestions. Precious Blood was one, Pearl’s candy and nuts was another.

Some people are mentioning Oakland Beach. I moved to RI a few years ago, and I'm a bit surprised that it hasn't been bought up by property developers yet. I mean, we're talking about relatively cheap real estate, surrounded by marinas, on a little peninsula surrounded by the water, with a beach, 10 minutes from i95. The air traffic doesn't really go over it, and right next to it are the mansions of Warwick Neck. It's 15 minutes to downtown Providence, and an hour to Boston.
