That happened to my roommate once in Brooklyn. Except they kicked down the door, tossed the room, stuck several guns in his face and then realized they were at the wrong address. At least they put an IOU post it note on the door they busted.

I think it’s kind of nice that this usually mad, sad and panicky sub gets a few days a year to be distracted by pretty flowers.

The I-195 land is the worst. Dealing with the city, the commission and the state, then every property owner within fifty miles with a commute through providence has standing to sue.

On what level? Vacant lots owned by the state don’t pay taxes.

West side, Smith Hill, Fox Point. Not as cheap as they used to be but still deals compared to Boston

It’s not the destination, it’s the journey.

That depends on where you are. There’s a lot of neighborhoods with decently affordable homes (by Boston standards anyway) that are an easy walk / bike ride from the train station. There are also a lot that aren’t, obviously.

It’s sad to say but the liquor store industry will continue to fight this. For what I hear, an absurd amount of a given stores sales come from these things. Which isn’t an argument against a ban. Just setting expectations.

Not a boomer though. I still find it amazing that the people who coined the term “soccer mom” are the same ones who can’t fathom their kids might have grown up to like the sport.

And my attitude to those folks is, you had a chance to keep the Pawsox in RI but then something something Kurt Schilling’ed it to Worcester.

100% agree. A soccer stadium will do fine there. People are just bent because they were one the 12 people who still went to every Pawsox game.

I agree. People are thinking of Irish and Italian boomers when they say crap like that. A modest capacity soccer stadium would sell out all the time. If and when I move back to PVD I would totally look into season tickets.

I think it’s appropriate that the title says “Support Group” as you’ll need one to get through the “boondoggle, no one watches soccer, something something Kurt Schilling” gauntlet.

Yeah, as I read further down they got more reasonable. The posts leading up to yours were all kind of unhelpful doomposting so I thought I’d thrown in something practical. Turns out it wasn’t necessary, but I enjoyed writing anyway.

Only places I’ve ever been robbed in the street were London High Street and outside UCLA. That was after living in Oakland in an illegally converted wear house above an artesian dildo factory.

Wait, by “hell of a thing” do you mean “hell of a good thing,” or “a thing that is hell”? Cuz personally, I find this is the best city I’ve been in yet for walking (and I been to lot).
